The design of this baptismal font contains references to the dove, fire and water. And to the Trinity.

2 Peter  3: 5b-6
"...the earth was formed out of water and by water. By these waters also the earth of that time was deluged and destroyed"
10b....the elements will be destroyed by fire and and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare"

Those words are powerful descriptions of the forces of water and fire.

Matthew 3:11
"...I baptize with water.....He will Baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with Fire"
Luke 3:21 .."heaven was opened and the Holy Spirit descended on Him in bodily form"

Matthew 28  ..."therefore go and make deciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit"

The Bethlehem Star outlines the dove descending from heaven. This design element is  held in the center by three legs- representing the Trinity.

The dove element is repeated at the top and each side of  the three legs.

The bowl that holds the water sits on the third level of a tri -level top. The third section is surrounded by three wooden supports. The number of three again refers to the Trinity and the shapes of the supports suggest water in the form of waves.

The Christ Candle is incorporated  via a three sided support in reference to the Trinity.  The three sides are cut in shapes that suggest flames.
This bowl seemed the perfect fit as its surface is set in a pattern of waves.
