The base with a coat of ebony stain then a first coat of black paint.
These pictures were taken right after the paint was applied. When this coat dries I will sand it back and apply a second coat. The second coat will get a light sanding then on the clear top coat.
A Bird's-Eye Maple top---shiny spots are low grain getting filled. Top will get sanded smooth, then the lacquer top coat.
